The popular game-variety host "Wowowin," Willie Revillame, might soon find that two government TV stations are carrying his show. According to reports, Willie Revillame and the chief executives of two stations, IBC-13 and PTV-4, are currently in negotiations.
The rumors started after a picture of Willie Revillame visiting the PTV-4 newsroom in company with the station's general manager, Anna Puod, and reporters Angelique Lazo and Aljo Bendijo surfaced online.
IBC13 President Jimmy Policarpio stated that he wanted to take both PTV-4 and Channel 13 in a new direction, aiming to transform them from merely government stations to networks that also appeal to the general public through entertaining content. Policarpio stated a meeting with PTV-4's General Manager was for "exploratory talks."
In an interview, Policarpio said, "We're currently talking, purely on an exploratory basis. We'd like to have a new direction for PTV-4 and Channel 13, making it not only a government station but also a network that appeals to the masses. Entertainment is also necessary to make the television station interesting.
Both PTV-4 and IBC13 have reached out to Willie Revillame to bring his popular show "Wowowin" to their networks while discussions between Willie Revillame, Anna Puod, and Jimmy Policarpio are still taking place at Shangri-La The Fort. The goal is to telecast "Wowowin" simultaneously on PTV-4 and IBC-13, airing from Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., assuming an agreement is obtained.
These discussions are still in the exploratory stage, and no formal agreement has yet been reached. However, if the talks are successful, it might result in an important shift in the government TV stations' programming, with a well-liked and entertaining show like "Wowowin" perhaps joining their lineup.
