The Manila Electric Company (Meralco) said on Monday that it had decided to lower power tariffs by P0.7213 per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for the month of July in an effort to give its customers a much-needed break. The overall tariff for a typical residential client will reduce from June's P11.9112 per kWh to a more affordable P11.1899 per kWh, which is anticipated to have a good effect on households nationwide.

This rate adjustment results in a noticeable decrease of about P144 in monthly electricity expenses for people using about 200 kWh. Consumers who have been struggling with rising energy prices will be relieved by this news.

Notably, Meralco has successfully managed to reduce its generation charge for the second straight month. The generation charge will be P6.6066 per kWh in July, a notable decrease of P0.6436 from the rate of P7.2502 per kWh in June. Since it directly affects the composition of the bill that accounts for the cost of producing power, this decrease in the generation charge is a beneficial development.

The decision made by Meralco to reduce rates in July demonstrates its dedication to giving its valued customers easily available and reasonably priced electricity. In addition to providing people with financial relief, the rate reduction promotes sensible energy use and helps lessen the burden of high utility expenses. With this action, Meralco hopes to support the general welfare and financial security of its customers in these trying times.
