DOTr Chief Confirms OTS Employees Will Face Repercussions for Missing Currency Incident
OTS employees ate cash as opposed to chocolates, according to the DOTr chief. The Office for Transportation Security (OTS) has found four personnel accountable for a recent incident involving lost money at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, according to a recent statement by Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista. The results of an administrative probe also refuted earlier allegations that the workers had swallowed chocolate instead of cash, as demonstrated in a widely distributed video.
The two men and two women who were accused, a total of four people, have been suspended while legal proceedings are taking place. They might eventually lose their jobs. A criminal inquiry will also be opened to see if there were any other members of the staff engaged in this alarming incident.
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) promises to improve the screening procedure it uses to hire OTS personnel and has plans to give current employees retraining. These steps are intended to stop such occurrences from happening again.
A passenger's allegation of missing monies at the airport prompted the investigation. An urgent investigation was conducted, however the lost cash could not be found. A video of a 28-year-old contractual OTS employee swallowing an object and drinking water was vital evidence, forcing officials to investigate the likelihood that the missing cash was linked.
