Cedric Lee turns himself over to the NBI after being found guilty  for Serious Illegal Detention

Businessman Cedric Lee turned himself into the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) not long after being found guilty of serious illegal detention alongside Deniece Cornejo and two other people in a Taguig court.

Around seven thirty in the evening. After being apprehended by NBI operatives in Mandaluyong on Thursday, Lee was flown to the NBI headquarters in Quezon City, where he arrived shortly after 8 p.m.

Lee informed authorities that he was choosing to turn himself in as his legal team was getting ready to file an appeal with the Court of Appeals. He was accompanied by his attorney. He explained to them that going to jail would be better than running away from the law since it would allow him to talk to his family and attorneys.

Lee, who had been in jail before, expressed faith in the legal system and the idea that the truth would eventually come to light.

After turning himself in, Lee went through the routine arrest process, which included getting his fingerprints and mugshot taken. The Taguig Regional Trial Court will receive the warrant for his arrest and is anticipated to issue a commitment order.

In a 94-page decision, Taguig RTC-Branch 153 ruled Simeon Raz, Ferdinand Guerrero, Lee, and Cornejo guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of committing serious illegal detention for ransom in violation of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code. They received a term of reclusion perpetua, which carries a maximum 40-year prison sentence.

"The accused's deliberate and coordinated actions before, during, and after the commission of the crime unmistakably demonstrate their premeditated intent to unlawfully confine Vhong Navarro for monetary gain. Their collective conduct reveals a shared understanding and agreement to perpetrate the offense," the judge wrote.

In addition, the court canceled the convicted parties' bail bonds.
