CAAP Reaffirms Mandatory Security Screening for Air Passengers

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) stressed on Thursday that all flight passengers, even those on private planes, must go through security checks at authorized airport terminals.

CAAP noted that area center and airport managers have been required to verify that all outgoing and arriving passengers meet the relevant paperwork and security standards at CAAP-operated airports, except military flights covered by Memorandum Circular 005-2023.

The memorandum, released in February 2023, follows Senator Raffy Tulfo's proposal to tighten security measures and combat criminal activities through extensive passenger screening.

"This policy reflects CAAP's commitment to upholding the highest standards of aviation security," according to the agency statement.
